From the horse’s mouth

New release from Bicephalic Records:

BC007 – Food World / Clang Quartet : Aeon

http://www.bicephalic.net/bc007.html

I am happy to announce this newest cassette split release.

The legendary Clang Quartet (aka Scotty Irving) appears here with his patented harsh noise + percussion combo. Clang Quartet has a few releases on labels such as Hansen, RRRecords and Turgid Animal, but what he is most known for are his amazing live shows, combining harsh noise, frenetic drumming and religious performance art. To top it off, he will be opening for Acid Mothers Temple on their upcoming US tour... definitely not to be missed.

Food World are the harsh noise / freakout duo of Ryan Lewis (Mr. Stonecipher) and August Traeger (Somnaphon / Nipple Stools). Their side of the tape includes one track that is a high octane screeching nightmare and another track culled from a subdued live performance recorded on 4 July 2011 (US Independence Day) in Wilmington, NC.

If you have a cassette player, I encourage you to pick this up. I had the privilege of seeing Clang Quartet a few years ago, and it was one of the most intense live shows I've ever seen.

Oh yeah!

I feel that there should be a story that goes here; something to set up the pictures you're about to see and provide an element of context to frame them. But, I think that the awesomeness speaks for itself. Also it's hot and I'm sweating and I don't feel like typing.

Up yours, Spring.

Request for submissions – Walking Without Rhythm

Singing sand (also known as booming sand, barking sand or whistling sand) is the term ascribed the phenomenon of sound produced by moving sand. During an avalanche, or when blown by wind, sand of a certain composition, size and humidity can produce eerie, low-pitched sounds that can be heard for miles.

Walking Without Rhythm is a compilation designed to employ the natural sound of moving sand in the arts of noise, dark ambient and audio experimentation. Each track submitted should contain some element of a sound recording of the singing sand phenomenon; either using the audio provided, or audio from another source. Audio can be manipulated in whatever manner the artist sees fit, provided that it is somewhere in the final mix.

The following recordings were culled from an article by the Morphodynamics Lab of Laboratoire de Physique et Mécanique des Milieux Hétérogènes.

WAV format
AIFF format
MP3 format

The compilation will be released under a Creative Commons license in VBR MP3 format. Please use the Contact link in the right-hand navigation bar for details on track submission.

Submission deadline is May 31st June 15th. Happy noising!

Worst-Case Redux

Due to some strange encoding issues, two of the tracks in the Worst-Case Scenarios release turned out to be white noise. I have corrected these tracks and uploaded new versions, which are now available for your listening pleasure. If you've already downloaded, or listened to the album, I implore you to go back and check out the Daniel Kemp tracks again.

Thanks to Nate for the keen ear and attention to detail!

Worst-Case Scenarios available… Now!

THIS HERE

That there is the release page for you aural pleasure. Definitely a quality collection of tracks and I would like to thank everyone who participated.

I've got a few ideas in mind for the next project. I might go with a simpler one at the moment, if only because I'm getting ready to move and will be too busy for complicated project requirements...
